Exhibiting with Haynes Galleries in the US

I am delighted to share that I am exhibiting 3 pieces with the Haynes Galleries in Nashville, Tennessee in the United States. The Haynes Galleries is one of the leading galleries in the US that show contemporary realist art. They have an impressive stable of artists and art on their books that include not only past greats such as Andrew Wyeth and John Singer Sargent, but also contemporary realist masters such as Anthony Ryder, Burton Silverman, and Alexandra Tyng. I am very proud to join this impressive group of realist artists and exhibit in their next exhibition New Works: New Directions 'Fresh faces, fresh work and fresh perspectives highlight “New Works: New Directions” at Haynes Galleries, an exciting collection of paintings from some of the most talented names in contemporary American Realism. Portrait Prize 2012

Roses has been selected for the Portrait Prize 2012, an exhibition of portraits at the Holburne Museum in Bath. "Our portrait competition for artists in the south west runs every other year and each time we receive entrants’ work we are delighted with the quality of the paintings and variety of style within this flourishing tradition. A prize panel of judges will award the £5,000 commission, but as always we would like you to vote for your favourite work in the competition for the title of The People’s Prize. The Bath Chronicle will also offer the opportunity to vote for your favourite portrait online." Roses, oil on linen, 50x40cm. Brown Eyes

My latest painting is in the last stages...perhaps a tiny adjustment here or there, but it is pretty much finished. It is not a commissioned piece but a painting that I wanted to paint for a portrait competition. My inspiration were the deep brown eyes of my young model, I wanted to continue the brown theme with a hint of mystery. Roses Oil on canvas, 50x40cm Feel free to leave a comment below.

Hands - detail of Work in Progress

A little sneak peek at a current work in progress. I am painting a young girl with a fabric as background. I am currently trying to paint the thread of the fabric, with endless hatching. You can see a the rose in the fabric at ‘underpainting stage’ behind the girl’s hand. Still lots to do, but hopefully this is going somewhere. Feel free to leave a comment below.
